Bright straw in colour with nashi, acacia, and sweet summer hay aromatics. The palate is refreshing yet full and driven; punctuated by a mineral cut that flows through to the dry finish. The GV Collection Pinot Gris is a full style with ample weight cut by precise minerality.
The fruit came from quite different Bendigo vineyards, predominantly School House and Red Shed. School House (420m) provides aromatic intensity and freshness to the wine, Red Shed (230m) richness and texture.
2020 was a cool Central Otago growing season marked by low crop levels, and crisp, pure fruit. Budburst, flowering and harvest were 7-14 days later than average, with very small berries and bunches. Fruit was harvested in mid-April, with intense vibrant flavours.
Following whole bunch pressing, portions of the wine were either tank (50%) or barrel fermented (50%). The wine remained on full lees in barrel, with MLF contributing to its texture. After nine months, the wine was blended and bottled.
Drawn from premium Bendigo, Pisa and Gibbston vineyards, GV Collection wines are classically sculpted, pure expressions of Central Otago.
